India on 19th April 2012 propelled itself into the elite club of nations with Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) successfully test firing nuclear capable AGNI-V, which covered a range of about 8000 km, but was restricted to a bit more than 5000 km so that it does cause harm to far away countries.AGNI-V can cover entire China, Eastern Europe, North Eastern and Eastern Africa and even Australia if fired from the Nicobar Islands.

According to DRDO chief Dr VK Saraswat the AGNI-V missile is among the
best in its class in the world with its advanced ring-laser gyros,
composite rocket motors and highly accurate micro-navigation systems and inertial navigation systems.
The three-stage, 17-metre tall, 2 metre wide AGNI-V, weighing 50 tonnes, is capable of carrying a nuclear war-head of 1.1 - 1.5 tonnes.
